Pegasus Contemporary Ballet presents The Perspective Project

Nov 10 | 8pm | $27

The Perspective Project invites audiences to observe dance from every angle at the historic Arts Mission Oak Cliff. The program opens with resident choreographer Carrie Ruth Trumbo’s newest work for Pegasus Contemporary Ballet, All Rise. An immersive experience, this work allows patrons to pull up a chair or peer through a window into one family’s domestic life and it’s subsequent downfall, set to 1940s jazz and an original score by Kristopher Estes-Brown. Inspired by the uniqueness of the building itself, this work will utilize the space to the fullest, taking attendees on a tour of sorts.

Guest choreographer Kevin Jenkins, whose work has been praised by Dance Magazine as “riveting,” will premiere a new piece with an original score by composer Bradley Harris. The work is designed to be viewed by audience members from multiple sides of the stage, creating a space where audiences experience the work differently depending on their literal point of view.

The Perspective Project provokes patrons to question, in what ways, in both this show and in life, is their view potentially limited? How do our unique vantage points inform our judgments, casual or otherwise, and impact how we experience the world?

Funded in part by the Moody Fund for the Arts, we invite you to join us as we present two different choreographers’ expression of the theme of ‘perspective’ in this entertaining and engaging production.

**Note: Audiences will be guided on a pathway including hallways and stairs in this immersive performance; we encourage comfortable footwear. Please also note that Arts Mission Oak Cliff’s main hall is not wheelchair accessible and there is one flight of stairs to enter. However, an experience without the use of further stairs will be available to patrons who are more comfortable with this route.
