Re/Training in the Void

This October, Agora Artists is proud to bring local dancers a workshop with our friends at ARCOS from Austin, TX!

Re/Training in the Void

October 10 | 3-5pm | $15

ARCOS Co-Director EG Gionfriddo will facilitate Re/Training, an open-level movement workshop for the Dallas community, presented alongside ARCOS’s touring production Holding Up The Void at Arts Mission Oak Cliff (October 8–10). Re/Training is ARCOS’s core movement system for rigorous personal growth and choreographic generation. In this session, EG verbally guides participants through a stream-of-consciousness, intuitive movement arc designed to blend deep anatomical awareness, exploratory risk, and continuous movement. Together, we’ll challenge physical and imaginative stamina while blurring the boundaries between training and play. Using this method as a warm-up, the session will transition into creative research using physical mechanisms from the Void project, including cinder blocks, cassette players, and live sound manipulation. ARCOS dancers co-facilitate the session as active participants and guides for working safely with physical materials. The session will conclude with a reflection discussion as a group.
