Chasing a Dream | June 13-27
The immersive installation taking over AMOC in June!
Chasing a Dream is an immersive installation at Arts Mission Oak Cliff created by Teddy Georgia, Sonny Martinez, and Joaquin Soto that traces the journey of a dream realized through cycles of transformation, memory, death, and renewal. Utilizing fabric as both pathway and metaphorical lifeline, the installation guides visitors from the darkness of the underground into an ethereal sanctuary suspended between dream space and reality.
Join us throughout June for a variety of experiences, where you can interact with the art in different ways. Learn more below.
Visitors enter through a series of wooden arches and follow a continuous thread of fabric stretching from the wind-swept exterior trees into the floral “death” of the basement below. The journey culminates in a fog-filled sanctuary suspended between reality and dream space. Upon exiting, participants are led back into the world by the same thread, transformed by the realization that the dream and the dreamer are inseparable.
Additional activations throughout the exhibition include:
June 20 – a Juneteenth performance of Red by AMOC Artist-in-Residence Calvin Walker
June 24 – Copa de Cliff Fest is taking over Bishop Arts on June 24! Expect larger crowds in the area and plan a date with loved ones or friends!
June 26-27 – Chasing a Dream comes alive for its Closing Weekend. Performers will activate the fabric and breathe life into a dream.
