Have You Eaten Yet?

Have You Eaten Yet? is an intimate community gathering hosted by artist-in-residence Bao Nghi Ngo as part of her AiR: Underground residency at Arts Mission Oak Cliff.

Have You Eaten Yet?

September 19 | 12:30pm–2:00pm | $15

Guests are invited to gather around the table, share a Vietnamese meal, and spend an afternoon together through food and conversation.

Drawing from Ngo’s ongoing exploration of family, migration, memory, and inheritance, the afternoon considers food as another kind of archive: recipes learned through repetition, flavors carried across places and generations, and meals that hold memories of the people who made them. Ngo will prepare and share Vietnamese dishes connected to her own family and upbringing, accompanied by family photographs and small archival materials throughout the space.

Rather than a formal artist talk or presentation, the gathering is meant to feel like what it is: sitting down and sharing a meal. Guests are welcome to eat, talk, linger, and consider the ways food can hold stories that aren't always written down.

About the Artist

Bao Nghi Ngo is a Dallas-based multidisciplinary artist exploring memory, family history, migration, and cultural identity through alternative photography, printmaking, textiles, and installation. Informed by her experience with a traumatic brain injury, her tactile, process-driven practice considers what we remember, what we inherit, and what changes as we carry it forward.
